Geoffrey Farmer is interested in insertion. His installation as part of the Sydney Biennale takes its source from the actual gallery walls. His work is peculiar in that it insinuates itself on you. Borrowing elements from conceptual and installation practice, he practices an aesthetics of accumulation to works that incorporate handmade, video, performance, drawing, photog’y and the found object. His overall tone is a mix of poetics and social commentary. He minutely sifts through history (ies) combined with the exhibition process itself, with its fictional power and its temporal aspect. This mix is activated in his actual physical intervention. See this
